Oh what a summer feast we have had! With the last of the warm days stretching into autumn, we are still savouring some of the flavours of our bountiful summer crops. Our farmers tried some new biodynamic tomato varieties with seeds sourced from Transition Farm. The names are as delectable as the produce itself – Saucy Mary, Lucid Gem, Tommy Toes, Green Zebra and Black Beauty. We have also been growing our old favourites – Black Cherry tomatoes.
Customer have been turning large bunches of basil into sumptuous pestos for months now! The cut bunches have so much life in them, they’ll grow roots in a jug of water on your kitchen bench! The basil paired perfectly with the other summer crops of the brightest coloured snacking capsicum, two varieties of eggplant and all the tomatoes.
We love being able to follow a main course of roasted basil-infused veggies on pasta, with the juiciest giant watermelons that we have ever had here. With a summer feast like this, we cannot wait to see what autumn and winter will bring!
